We released the program to a limited group of government staff and lobbying personnel last month and are now making the program more broadly available to groups and organizations that have an interest in legislative training issues.
The basic Capitol track of the program will be offered free of charge to all Capitol and executive department staff as content is made available in the coming months. (Note: a future announcement will be made when this portion of the program is available)
The intent of the Capitol track of the program is to provide training on legislative, policy, and related issues to legislative and executive staff in California State government.
The paid in-person and online portion of the program is currently available on a limited basis to Capitol and executive staff, associations, legislative advocates, lobbyists, and related personnel. (please see our brochure for more information)
One highlight of the program is 25 case studies which provided a detailed account of major legislative victories, as well as failures, to enact significant policy change in California.
Each case study (i.e. Prop. 13, Prop. 98, AB 32) summarizes how each major policy change originated, evolved, and was ultimately enacted.
The program will feature an array of online and in-person training modules, interviews, resources, and related materials on topics including but not limited to staff development, government institutions, legislative stakeholders, policy process, effective methods for developing legislation and how to enact significant policy change.
